This January we launched a updated version of the Leaside Business Park website. The new website streamlines the site navigation as well as a general clean-up of the site and the code behind it.
This past December we launched 2 new websites serving the Toronto area and a re-launch of an older website.
Toronto-Gym.ca
Launched on December 27th, Toronto-Gym.ca is a directory of gyms, fitness centres and sports and health stores in Toronto and the GTA. A Vancouver version of this site is expected to be launched in early 2010.

Will this actually make it through? A net neutrality bill has just hit the Canadian House of Commons! A landmark piece of legislation.
“The NDP is “very wary” about the government intervening in the internet, Angus told the House of Commons. But the bill isn’t about regulating the internet, it’s about ensuring there will be scrutiny of those who provide access to it, he said.”

Well summer is coming to a close and I realize that I have a lot of books to finish reviewing – some of them have been sitting around since late June.
So far I’ve finished:
Teach yourself Flash C3 in 24 hours
next up, a book on building photo equipment and another on Photoshop, CS3.
Well today I’m working on the layout for Halifax-Restaurants.com, and that means a bunch of messing around with PhotoShop. The book that’s getting a lot of use is The Photoshop Anthology from SitePoint, this is a book aimed at web developers that need to figure out how to do something specific quickly- case in point- how to blend two images together (p. 46). Good stuff.
Well with SimcoeDining.com stuck in alpha/beta for a while I started thinking about what I’d like to do next time around. Well the logical thing to do was look at what I liked about SimcoeDining.com and other sites (such as the recently completed Dine.TO 2 release as well as new sites like restomontreal.ca and ibegin.com).
Well the result will be the 2nd (or 3/4 if you count Dine.TO and EdmontonDining.com) restaurant guide- Halifax-Restaurants.com this time for the “restaurants, bars and clubs in Halifax, Nova Scotia and surrounding communities”
The aim of this will be to build a more sophisticated version of SimcoeDining and then move the technology back to it once done.
It’s late, so here’s a picture of a gas station we stopped at somewhere between Summerhill and Halifax last Sunday. Forget PetroCan, Exxon or whatever else- out here it’s pretty much Irving on every gas station.
Friday has come and gone … next stop vacation. One week on the East Coast, should be fun.
Ok, Lets give this blogging thing another go.
